How much is a pound of Liquidmetal?

We are an OEM (Orginal Equipment Manufacturer) manufacturer of parts. We do not quote or sell our bulk alloys to unlicensed third parties due to the unique nature and process requirements of our technology. How do I get a quote?

Please contact us with your Company and application information and we will respond within 24 hours. If you need to reach someone today, please call (949) 635-2143. Our call volume at times can be high, so please leave your phone number and we will return your call as soon as possible. Additionally please use our Contact Us form and we will follow up with you.

Can I pour Liquidmetal into my own mold?

Our alloys require special equipment and processes very different from traditional foundry and metal working processes. We can not use molds designed for other processes or purposes.

Do you make the molds?

Yes. We work with your engineers to design and manufacture the molds from prototype to production. Our molds are manufactured by licensed Certified Liquidmetal® partner(s) located in the U.S.

Can I machine Liquidmetal Technologies alloys?

Our alloys are very hard and require special tools like carbide and diamonds to machine the material, however our best method is molding parts to finished features and dimensions. What kind of tolerance can be molded with Liqudmetal Alloys?

Depending upon the part complexity and location of the features, we can maintain tolerances up to 0.002 Inch (0.05mm). Please contact us to review your part geometry and engineering specifications Contact Us

What is the shrinkage rate with Liqudmetal Alloys?

Our material is a metallic glass (i.e., our alloys freeze in an amorphous, vitreous state). Since our material is a solidified liquid have a very low solidification shrinkage rate (0.2%) which allows us to mold to net shape.

Is it possible to do forging?

No. Liquidmetal is a metallic glass and can not be forged. Our strength is a result of the amorphous structure of our alloy and does not require forging to achieve its performance properties.

What data do you have on Biocompatability?

We have conducted animal implant biocompatibility performed by Louisiana State University on two of our alloys and submitted the detailed results in a FDA Master File. Since we are an OEM component manufacturer, our customers are responsible for filing the appropriate FDA applications for material substitution, clinical trials, or Premarket Authorizations for their specific (Class I, II or III) devices.

How do I get a sample?

Unfortunately, we receive too many requests for samples, therefore we sell only a limited quantitiy of Lab Grade samples (plates & rods) for your Company's Test & Evaluation under NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement). Please contact our Sales Department about your applicaton. Contact Us

I'm a Researcher in my PHd program, how can I get a sample for research?

Please contact us and one of our Scientists will discuss the prices and availability of our Lab Grade samples for your research. We ask a professional courtesy that research results are shared with us when your study results are published. What data do you have on corrosion resistance?

We have extensive data on corrosion (acid, base & some galvanic testing) performance for our main production alloy. Please contact us to discuss your specific application and environmental requirements. Contact Us

What are the fatigue properties?

High cycle Fatigue data is limited. Please contact us about your specific application and requirements.

Is Liquidmetal magnetic?

Our main production alloy is a Zr/Ti based alloy and non-magnetic.

Is it a good conductor of electricity?

Our main production alloy will conduct electricity, but there is significant resistivity. We do not recommend our alloy for conductive applications.

Can it be welded to other metals?

Laserwelding and electron beam welding is technically possible with some materials, however welding or soldering are not certified production processes yet. Please contact us to discuss your specific application and joining needs. Contact Us

Our main production alloy, molds and manufactured parts are currently produced in the USA by licensed Certified Liquidmetal Partners
